512 Main Street 2nd floor store - The Rusty Zipper has reclaimed materials being installed as wall finishes.
Demolition complete on the second floor space. The masonry elevator shaft has been extended thru the roof and completed. The metal stud framing for all the corridor and tenant space walls is about 85% complete with electrical rough in work following. Wood blocking is being installed to accommodate the new tenant and corridor wood finishes. Eleven new skylights have been cut through the roof deck and installed. HVAC duct work and fire sprinkler piping is being installed in the ceiling spaces. The new structural steel for the stair extension from first floor to second floor is complete and wood blocking is being installed in the stairwell. Project status is about 35% complete.

DKC recently began work on a new project, the Black Hawk Volunteer Fire Department addition. Work on this project is expected to be substantially complete by September 2012. See a photo of the work being done below. This is the nearly-complete foundation for the addition.
After nearly a year, work at the 500 Block of Main Street in downtown Rapid City is nearing completion. The demolition and subsequent renovations of retail spaces in the old Sears Building have resulted in new spaces for a variety of local shops and restaurants. Businesses occupying the retail spaces include Dakota Soda Company, the Wobbly Bobby Pub, Mitzi's Books, Roam'n Around, and Who's Toys, among several others that have already opened or expect to open soon. Dean Kurtz is proud to be a part of this contribution to the revitalization of downtown Rapid City!

The annual CIC Golf Tournament was held at the Elks Golf Course on August 27, 2011. Having a fun time participating were Kelley Kurtz, Dave Bergeron, Mark Everson and Brad Kurtz.

Four Front / Kurtz Joint Venture has been selected as Prime Contractor by the US Army Corps of Engineers to complete a large scale landscaping project known as Repair Xeriscapes High Profile Facilities on Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota.
Despite what trials Pierre and Ft. Pierre have recently endured with the Missouri River floods, progress is underway at the new Airport Passenger Terminal in Pierre, South Dakota.
With a star line-up and promising season ahead of them the Little League “Sportsters” are preparing for an action packed season of baseball this year. Burgess, Vice President of Operations at Dean Kurtz Construction Company, challenges himself with yet another role as Head Coach of the team. Dean Kurtz Construction Company celebrated the opening of the Liberty Gate at Ellsworth AFB this month. The Liberty Gate is the third and final gate, which marks the completion of an 11.2 million dollar contract upgrading all access gates at Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota.
Dean Kurtz Construction Company provided Construction Management services for the new Prairie Hills Transit Bus Facility in Spearfish, South Dakota.
Dean Kurtz Construction Company is providing Construction Management Services for a new 4,500 sf Child Development Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming on the FE Warren AFB. Construction is finishing up on this project with substantial completion underway this month. A final completion date is expected for June, 2011.
The owner of this project is the US Army Corps of Engineers with Four Front Design, Inc. providing architectural services.
Construction of the Liberty Gate is expected to be complete June 3, 2011. This gate includes a new Vehicle Inspection Facility as well as a new Visitor Contact Center and is the main access gate at Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota.
This project includes the replacement of three of the Base's current access gates - the Patriot Gate, Bismarck Gate, and Liberty Gate - with new, state of the art guard houses, and upgraded security measures. The Patriot Gate opened in July 2010 and the Bismarck Gate opened in August 2010.
Construction has started on the North Parmalee Water Reservoir Tank on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota. This project involves the construction of a partially buried concrete water storage reservoir located south of Cedar Butte.
